Students from the iDSB present technical secondary school in The Hague
Four dedicated students from the Fachoberschule (FOS) visited the German International School The Hague (DISDH) this week to present the concept of the FOS to interested parents and students. Particular attention was paid to the possibility of completing the Fachoberschule in a digital format.
The Fachoberschule is a two-year course of study with a focus on business and administration, which leads to a general entrance qualification for universities of applied sciences. It combines vocational school subjects with internships lasting several months, allowing students to gain valuable experience before entering the world of work. This qualification entitles students to study at universities of applied sciences in Germany and internationally at numerous universities with a Bachelor’s/Master’s structure.
At the FOS, we also offer external students from other German schools abroad the opportunity to acquire the Fachhochschulreife via distance learning. The students join our face-to-face classes digitally. The compulsory subjects are taught virtually. Subjects such as sports, afternoon clubs or possibly other foreign languages are taught in the respective home country in class with 11th and 12th grade students and at certain fixed times in Brussels. The same requirements apply for distance learning as for face-to-face lessons. This also applies to the internships to be completed.
During their visit to The Hague, the students explained the benefits of the digital format of the FOS, which allows for flexible learning regardless of location. They shared their personal experiences and emphasized how this modern learning method has helped them to effectively combine theory and practice.
The presentation was met with great interest by the parents and students of the German International School The Hague in attendance. Many were enthusiastic about the flexible learning opportunities and the wide range of prospects offered by the vocational high school diploma.
This exchange between the two schools underlines the importance of cooperation and innovation in education and opens up new paths for students for their professional future.
