Exciting science afternoon: three experts share their knowledge
On 19 November 2024, the sixth form had the opportunity to take part in a special event. Three experienced speakers from the natural sciences gave fascinating talks that provided an in-depth insight into their specialist fields.
First, Dr Dario Fritzewski, an astrophysicist at the KU Leuven, presented his career and his current research topic, pulsating stars.
Anne Orfert, a computer scientist, then spoke about how you can be successful in your job even without a degree, what it’s like to work as a woman in a male-dominated industry and how her everyday life compares to escape games.
Dr Barbara Oberhauser, a qualified chemist who has made her career at various oil companies and works as Head of Health, Safety and Environment, rounded off the event.
The afternoon was not only informative, but also a valuable opportunity to talk to the experts and ask questions. The sixth form students were thus able to gain an in-depth insight into the natural sciences and further deepen their enthusiasm for these topics.
