The board of directors of the iDSB participates in the WDA management forum within the framework of Didacta
The World Association of German Schools Abroad (WDA) represents the independent, non-profit school boards of German schools abroad by pooling the knowledge of many local experts into a global network, representing their common interests vis-à-vis the German Bundestag and the funding agencies, and acting as an important contact for foreign cultural and educational policy. Represented by the Secretary General Barbara Geilen, the iDSB has been involved in this association for many years and contributes the interest of the iDSB to this network.
Within the framework of Didacta (trade fair for schools), the WDA hosted a management forum for the boards of member schools worldwide from 7-10 March. The primary topic was the current funding cuts by the Central Agency for Schools Abroad with a direct impact on schools, but there were also keynote presentations on staff recruitment and marketing, school fundraising, resilience and school transformation, and new school construction and equipment.
“At this conference I was able to make numerous, new contacts worldwide and intensify existing ones. The exchange was so enriching that I returned with a great treasure of new ideas and impulses for our school,” reports Barbara Geilen.
