iDSB inspires with successful 6th European Games
Young people from eight different German schools in Europe, with a variety of nationalities and languages, came together in Brussels last weekend to take on the sporting challenges of the European Games at the iDSB.
Around 120 athletes from Toulouse, Geneva, Dublin, London, Warsaw, The Hague and Osterholz-Scharmbeck travelled to Brussels to compete in three ball sports and three athletics disciplines and ultimately win the coveted trophy.
In addition to the sporting competitions, a varied supporting programme ensured the success of the event: after the traditional get-together party with sausages and drinks, a trip to Brussels city centre was on the agenda. The students took on the sporting challenges in glorious weather.
The outstanding performances of the athletes also contributed to the positive atmosphere. From an energetic football tournament, to exciting athletics competitions with impressive times and distances, to the volleyball final and the basketball tournament at the end – the spectators had a lot to see.
The German School of Geneva emerged as the deserved winner of this year’s European Games. However, it was not only the sporting successes that inspired us, but also the sporting cooperation between all participants. A big thank you goes to the dedicated sports assistants, parents and fans who actively supported us!
All in all, it was an all-round successful event characterised by fair play and mutual respect. We are already looking forward to the next European Games in 2026 – then we’ll get the trophy back! đ
