Vive l’amitié franco-allemande
On the occasion of the 60th anniversary of the Élysée Treaty, the iDSB welcomed the lycée français from Brussels this Monday. Together with more than 70 pupils, songs were sung, German pretzels were tasted, new contacts were made and old ones were refreshed.
What exactly was the Élysée Treaty?
On 22 January 1963, German Chancellor Konrad Adenauer and French President Charles de Gaulle met at the Élysée Palace in Paris and signed a joint declaration on Franco-German cooperation. The goal: more teamwork on youth and education issues as well as defence policy and regular meetings between representatives of both countries.
